DATO' MOKHZANI ISMAIL

Dato Mokhzani Ismail , a Perlis native is a celebrated composer, arranger, conductor and a jazz pianist in Malaysia. He studied classical music at a very young age until he finished his Licentiate in Piano performance from the Royal School of Music (London). He graduated from the prestigous Berklee College of Music Boston majoring in Jazz Piano and Orchestration in 1990 . Currently he is pursuing his Masters of Music in Jazz Studies from University of Central Oklahoma . He is the Music Director of Radio Television of Malaysia Orchestra since 1999.Started career in RTM since 1990 as a orchestra pianist, arranger and the orchestral manager he was promoted as the Music Director until today.

He conducted RTM Orchestra at various prestigous royal and gala concert in Asean exchange programme alongside with Singapore Broadcasting Orchestra,Jakarta TV Orchestra in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam,Singapore, Philippines and Brunei. He conducted 76 piece orchestra for the Malaysian Record’s Putrajaya Symphony and produced finest overtures such as Tuah and Jebat Overture, Makan Sirih Overture, Di atas Runtuhan Kota Melaka and composed theme songs for National Day from 1994 till today, corporate songs and writing jingles.

Apart from the success of Symphony Putrajaya, he is main key behind the Malam simfoni Irama Malaysia 2006 and Jazz Tribute To Malaysian songs concert. He is well known for the setting up of the RTM Jazz Orchestra.He wrote commercial songs for top Malaysian artists such as Jamal Abdillah, Saleem, Azharina ,Adibah Noor and Mawi.He lectures and supervises music students at various universities and colleges . In 2002 he presented a paper in ethnic music at a Music Seminar in Lyon, France. In 2006, he wrote the fim scoring of ‘Embun’ and awarded the best music scoring in the 16th Malaysian Film Festival. At the age of 37 , his success and contribution towards the nation has brought him to receive several numerous awards from the Government of Malaysia such as the 2 highest ranking title of Dato’ from Perlis and Pahang( DPPJ -1999, DIMP-2001) and also other awards such as J.S.M (2004 - Johan Setia Mahkota) and KSD (1999- Kesatria Setia di Raja) and Tokoh Budaya Perlis 2008.

His musical journey including leading the RTM Jazz Orchestra in prestigous Jazz Festival such as Bangkok World Jazz Festival and Asian Music workshops. He is widely involved as juries in national and regional festivals such as Hanoi Asean Golden Song in 1998, ABU Theme song, Sea Games, Asean Theme Song, Commonwealth Theme song and the Asean 2008 Golden Melodies Festival in Ho Chin Minh.

Currently, Mokhzani is still actively involved as a pianist in jazz clubs and functions . He has produced more than 20 albums of the orchestral music from traditional to contemporary and Mokhzani also has cut his first jazz trio album plus orchestra, one of its kind in Malaysia – Mjazz Trio and also the CD of RTM Jazz Orchetra – Jazz Tribute to Malaysian Music with the music score . DATO’ DR. AHMAD NAWAB

Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Nawab berasal dari Pulau Pinang, seorang komposer muzik yang terkenal di Malaysia dan masih lagi bergiat aktif dalam penggubahan lagu sehingga ke hari ini. Sepanjang penglibatannya dalam dunia muzik, beliau telah menghasilkan lebih 200 buah album yang didendangkan oleh artis-artis tempatan dan luar negara yang popular dan berbakat besar seperti Hetty Koes Endang, Khatijah Ibrahim, Sudirman Hj. Arshad, Ramlah Ram, Broery Marantika dan ramai lagi.
Popularitinya telah membuktikan bahawa lagu-lagu ciptaannya adalah berkualiti, di mana beliau masih mampu mengekalkan serta dapat bertahan lebih dari tiga puluh tahun dalam dunia muzik tanah air walaupun terdapat kemunculan ramai komposer-komposer muda yang serba berkebolehan.

Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Nawab hails from Penang is a well-known Malaysian composer in the country and still actively involved in his work until today. Throughout his career, he has produced more than 200 albums performed by popular and talented locals and foreign artists such as Hetty Koes Endang, Khatijah Ibrahim, Sudirman Hj. Arshad, Ramlah Ram, Broery Marantika dan others.
His popularity has proven of his quality work where he still manage to maintain and sustain his presence for more than thirty years in the music world in the midst of emergence of the many other young and versatile composers.
Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Nawab was also given the responsibility to compose the song entitled “Malaysia Truly Asia”, by Khatijah Ibrahim and had became the theme song to promote Malaysia internationally. Todate his great effort and contribution to the country musical arena, he was awarded a “Honarory Doctrate In Literature”, by University Putra Malaysia in the year 2000.

HANAFIE MOHD IMAM

Berpendidikan Bachelor of Music in Jazz Composition and Arranging dari Berklee Collage of Music, Boston, USA Master of Music in Music Education & Performance dari University of Miami, Florida, USA, anak kelahiran Kuala Lumpur ini sekarang sedang meneruskan pengajian PhD di Pusat Pengajian Melayu, Universiti Malaya. Beliau kini bertugas sebagai profesor di Fakulti Ekologi Manusia UPM, dan pernah menjawat jawatan Ketua Jabatan Muzik UiTM Shah Alam dan Akademi Seni Kebangsaan. Hanafie juga antara yang bertanggungjawab membentuk kurikulum dalam penubuhan Jabatan Seni Muzik di Akademi Seni Kebangsaan, UiTM dan Kolej Muzik Antarabangsa (ICOM). Hanafie pernah mengarahkan konsert Sheila On 7 di Stadium Shah Alam (2001), Kosert Hanafie and Picantes Jazz di Sunrise Jazz Festival Bukit Kiara (2001), menjadi Pengarah Muzik untuk teater Keris Sang Puteri sempena pembukaan rasmi Istana Budaya.

NARAWI HAJI RASHIDI

Bertugas sebagai Ketua Jabatan di Pusat Sumber Warisan Kampung Budaya Sarawak yang bertanggungjawab dalam memlihara kegiatan kebudayaan, mengetuai program penyelidikan seni dan budaya serta menganjurkan pelbagai acara festival, memimpin kelas muzik juga kursus-kursus, bengkel dan kelas tari. Menyumbangkan khidmatnya sebagai penerbit teknikal untuk Rainforest World Music Festival sejak 1998 hingga 2001, penerbit teknikal dan muzik untuk Festival Etnik Sarawak Malam Pelancongan Gawai sejak 1996 hingga 2002, penerbit muzik untuk Kumpulan Budaya Sarawak bagi persembahan Citrawarna Kebangsaan pada 2002, penerbit muzik bagi Kumpulan Budaya Sarawak ke LIMA Langkawi pada 1999, penerbit album Tuku’ Kame’ – Rhythm of Rainforest 1999 Gadang 2001, Valiha – Sape (Madagascar & Sarawak Music) Rentak Serumpun (Muzik Tarian Tradisional), memimpin persembahan Tuku’ Kame’ menyertai MTV Band Alert 1999 dan menggubah muzik untuk TV3, Persembahan Khas Perasmian Putrajaya, Persembahan Khas Hari Pekerja Peringkat Kebangsaan 2001 & 2002, Sambutan Hari Kemerdekaan 2001 dan Sambutan Tahun Baru 2002. Turut mencipta dan menggubah lagu dalam persembahan East Meets West bersama Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra dan terlibat dalam siri konsert The Kuala Lumpur BBC Proms.
